Tech Retreat brings together high school students from all fields of study for an event held in the heart of Canada's technology hub.

Ultimately, our goal is to encourage students, not only in the tech field, but all talented individuals to learn and collaborate in building real world applications. Participants will also hear from seasoned speakers and students in the industry.

The Event

Hackathon

Create something cool in a team of up to four.

This is where participants can build any software and hardware project of their choice. At the end, each team will be given the chance to showcase their project to other particpants and judges for a chance to win one or more of the top prizes. There will be mentors and volunteers to assist you at every step of the way.

Learnathon

Join us and learn about technology.

Participate in workshops with like-minded peers to learn about software and hardware programming in a fun casual atmosphere. Get the opportunity to talk to leaders from the industry, and upper-year university students currently completing math and engineering degrees.

Who can attend?

Any high school student may apply, but only accepted students may attend.

When/where is Tech Retreat happening?

Tech Retreat will run on Saturday August 13, 2016 at St. Paul’s University College, which is located at Canada’s most innovative school—The University of Waterloo.

How much does this cost?

Nothing! It's absolutely free. Food will also be provided.

What food is provided?

Saturday's lunch, dinner, as well as a snack will be available throughout the event.

What about overnight lodging?

We have a limited amount of dorm style rooms available if you're feeling tired.

What should I bring?

A laptop and charger, reusable water bottle, government photo ID (if you're signing out hardware), and your brilliant mind. Feel free to bring a sleeping bag, toothbrush, and other basic amenities for this overnight event.
